Every Letter I Sent You - Yerin Baek
Songs communicate emotion through both sound and lyrics. This project explores how expressive typography can replace imagery to amplify that emotion. The final outcome emphasizes the Principles and Elements of Design, using typography as the primary medium, supported by minimal imagery, color, and form.
The artist I chose for this project is Yerin Baek, a 27 year-old Korean solo artist. I decided to recreate her first full length album, Every Letter I Sent You, as a songbook. I chose her because of her unique musical style. This album especially reflects that identity, as she wrote all the lyrics herself. Her voice carries both a cold and warm tone, and her songs maintain a calm, laid-back mood without many high notes. However, when reading the lyrics closely, her honest emotions are deeply revealed. For this project, I will design songbooks for tracks 2, 7, 9, 10, 15, and 17 out of the 18 songs on the album.
